Eunice Kennedy Shriver started Camp Shriver in her yard at her Timberlawn property in 1962. Eunice and her brother, President John F. Kennedy, had a sister named Rosemary with an mental incapacity. As a consequence of their experiences with their sister, they determined to carry a day camp for youths from Washington D.C. and Maryland who had mental disabilities. At Camp Shriver, campers have been launched to horseback driving, swimming, canoeing, and rather more.
